[PD-dev] [PD] Mac OS X installers - BUG

Hey Hans,
I downloaded the current macOSX installer from your pure-data site. I think
this might have already been reported but PD does not get installed
correctly if you specifiy a non-root folder for the installation. Probably
makes sense to #1 set the installation target in the package so that the
user cannot change it or #2 (longer term) make the PD system relative so
that it can be installed in any place (like all of it in applications). I
think Matt is working on this?
Also for the Windows installer the "abstactions" folder that is created is
not added to the path for the PD batch file.
Ben

It gives you a working Pd install with lots of externals. But of
course it has its problems, as all Pd installs do. I now exclusively
use the installers when I am using Pd. Its just so much easier than
compiling everything yourself. But actually, you can compile the
package yourself quite easily. Just check everything out and in
packages/darwin_pkg, type "make darwin_pkg".
If you do use the installer and find problems, please report them to
the pd-dev list.
