I think this could be a good idea (or not ?...).
Maybe you could make an object like [include iemlib] in a patch and then you
can use all the objects from the iemlib ?

pros: 
- you know which externals are used
- we don't need all the startup-flag stuff
- don't have to write all the namespaces
- ...
cons:
- problematic if there are objects with the same name in two external
libraries
- of course with stand alone externals
- ...

But now (after writing this) I'm really unsure ...
