Indeed, that's where OSC is definitely handy, a widely adopted  
standard, I was just going on the list you gave before (Pd,  
SuperCollider, Max).

I see many people struggling with OSC to get things like Java, PHP,  
etc. talking to Pd when really you can just open a network socket to a  
[netreceive] and send semi-colon separated plain text messages.
