beep beep

Greetings list,

Black Market here.  I just installed PD on windows98.  The only problem is 
that the audio out is all in bursts, not a steady tone at all.  It goes 
"beep beeeeep beep".  So basically it doesn't work.  I tried some command 
line switches such as specifying which audio output device, but nothing.  In 
the DOS window, it continuously prints "resynching audio".

What gives?
