 |is there a straightforward way to assign values to symbols and

 |I think of something like a hash table or some other sort of
 |lookuptable for key/value pairs (the key part being a symbol, the
 |value part being an arbitrary pd datatype) in a way that you could
 |dereference them in a similar fashion as in a tabread object
 |(specifying that symbol table as argument and retrieving the current
 |value of the symbol in the outlet by sending the symbol name to the
 |inlet).

 |routes, but I would like a more elegent way to solve this.
