Hmm... are you typing the Pd command to a shell window; and have you
tried -nosound -nomidi, etc?  That might narrow things down.
If pd -nomidi works, then I know what's hanging you up, and how you can
nudge the source to fix it...

Otherwise, would you be willing to recompile Pd configured --enable-debug,
run gdb on it, and type

run
<control-C>
bt

... that would tell me where Pd is hanging on your machine and perhaps
I can figure something out that will help.
