Not at all.

This is what I use here with a layla24 for 8 channels I/O:
pd -sounddev 1 -asio -channels 8
("-channels 8" is the same as "-inchannels 8 -outchannels 8")

Using more than one ASIO driver simultanious is impossible. But one ASIO
driver can provide multiple channels.
