thanks for the clarifications. i hadn't understood the way lists work 
very well.

i'm aware of that. i want another (selfwritten) app on the same 
computer to have full control over a rather complex patch. the computer 
it will run on is not part of a network, so there should be no problem.

i will have a look at the 'sprinkler'..
