[PD] PiDiP 0.8.5 - mp3lame problem

hi!
I'm trying to compile the latest version of PiDiP on a Debian system, but keep 
getting a mp3lame error during configure.
I have liblame-dev 3.93.1 debian-package installed, and also tried lame 3.92 
from the source tarball.

Any hints?

The error message:
checking for InitMP3 in -lmp3lame... no
configure: error: streaming requires lame library!!
