I used the shell object, and it works very well. I even used it to
execute remote shell commands with ssh. The best way is to program
scripts with arguments (sh, perl, python,ruby,etc) and execute the
scripts from a shell object. Under Windows, I guess it's possible to do
the same tricks if PD is started from a Cygwin bash script. Experiment...
