[PD] More PD install on linux

I have another problem. It turns out that I may have set up the alsa stuff correctly (xmms plays...), but the compile of pd was hanging on portaudio. I installed portaudio, but now it hangs on pd_pablio.h. Portaudio's site says this is some subset (a python extension of portaudio) of portaudio, but i cant see where to install it from. Any tips?
