There's a lot of confusion about free licenses, and the CC is offering a 
legal framework to use those licenses. You might not need it.

Copyright/left is about ownership, not about business models. Ownership is 
not a concept exclusive to material goods. Lossless digital copying is 
common, but a large part of this activity is illegal, so we need something 
like the CC.

Not only for programmers; that's why the CC exists now.
