[PD] pdp fullscreen

just wondering if someone can explain this for me.

i have my second desktop(fluxbox) sent out my s-video and into my
TV(soon to be a projector). problem is that its a bit fuzzy. when i
play media on to the TV using mplayer or VLC, i can check fullscreen
mode and it flickers for a bit then the fuzzyness is gone and
fullsreen is all nice.
how can i achieve this with a PDP screen. at the moment i am just
expanding my xwindow to cover the whole screen but the border is still
there, and it is still fuzzy.
and why does this happen, is it an interlacing issue?
i'm sure this is a simple problem to fix and i have over looked something.
