I've got a similar problem with 0.39. CPU load in:
- 0.37.4: 3%
- 0.38.3: 3%
- 0.39:   40% (!)

Tested with exactly the same patch, ASIO is on, fs=96kHz, 2 channels, no 
errors in any version. I hope for some improvement with the 0.39.1...
