[PD] segmentation fault

running pd on linux with jack.  Tried a patch with a
fluid~ object in it, and I can't open the dsp.  Some
research suggested that the fluid~ object could be at
fault here.  When I try to open the dsp, the file
crashes and the error reads:

pd_gui: pd process exited
Segmentation fault

I've received this error while trying to use sfplay~
as well. 

any ideas?  I've exhausted my google research on this
