[Pd] [writesf~] "time to flush all the output to disk"

The help says that between a stop and the next open the object must
have time to flush all the output to disk...  I'm just wondering, is
this typically a matter of milliseconds or more like a few seconds?  I
mean, is it necessarily just one block, or it could be longer?
