Also using udev on FC5 I could not get a firewire camcorder to work  
with Gem - even hacking the videoDV4l.cpp file to specify the correct  
location of /dev/dv1394/0

If you get gem and a dv1394 camera working under fedora core please  
let me know how you did it! THanks!
