Thanks for your fast reply! (Mine took a bit as I'm spending a lot of time
on buses, trains, and setting up instruments at the moment.)
I did indeed install the .plist (and have been messing around with it a bit,
see earlier posts on how: in the Property List Editor, with which the .plist
opens by default, and in the prefs as accessed through pd. Changes made in
the one don't necessarily--visibly--show up in the other... puzzling).
But is that really the source of the trouble?
In the 5.reference folder, 0.39.2 has 258 items, while the old one has 659
items. Some things can't be created:

sorry, couldn't find help patch for "moog~.pd"
sorry, couldn't find help patch for "aenv~.pd"
sorry, couldn't find help patch for "fiddle~.pd"

Others do work (eg bfft~) so they've simply been reorganised to another
location I suppose.

As I mentioned in earlier posts, I already took some things from the old
'extra' folder into 0.39.2 ([motex/pan~], [stripdir]). But then there's
[commun] and [careGUI], which didn't create before (the reason for my
previous post), but now sometimes do... And sometimes don't... Hmm.

I'm not sure of the reason for all these things. I feel like a bit of an
idiot as things sometimes work and sometimes don't. I guess I'll just try
and reinstall the whole thing, incl the .plist (the one currently used is
attached). Is 0.39.2 indeed the version to work with now, even though it's
not on the pd site (yet?)? Or maybe I'll just replace / reinstall the
.plist, to begin with. I know it's all horribly newbie, but I just am... :)
I don't really know the first thing about how all this works. Thanks for
everyone's patience while I'm (hopefully) figuring it out.

Cheers, Robbert
