A lot of people that use Thunderbird sent attached patches "inline".  
I'm not sure why. Might be a mime-type thing.

Anyways. In the email from Derek you see a lot of (maybe) wierd text  
at the end of the email. All the line start with the # character.  
Together they form the Pd patch. Copy those and past them into a text  
editor (For example TextEdit or Notepad or what ever is at hand at  
your system) and save it as plain text with the .pd extension. Then  
runt it from Pd.
