[PD] settable receives

Hi list,

A [send] object is settable through its right inlet, which if I remember 
well is a feature that was added in version 0.40.

However, [receive] is still not settable. Is there some particular reason 
that makes that impossible or undesirable, or is it just a feature that has 
not come yet and may come one day?

Is there a way to achieve a "settable receive" currently in pd-vanilla? 
(except dynamically creating receive objects through messages to a canvas)
