[PD] sub-ms metro

Hi all,
i'm a bit surprised that i haven't found anything in the archives, so  
what is the reason that the period of metro can't be lower than 1 ms?  
(it's limited in the source code).
If it's a security thing, so that it prevents cpu overload it should  
at least be much lower (or even better, just > 0).
