if you upsample a signal in a subpatch, you can get this behaviour by 
specifying the "zero-padding" upsampling method.
however, you will really get:
a, 0, b, 0, c, ...., N, 0
(that is 2*N samples)

you can then use this signal to get the desired sample-block...
