If you haven't run "make install" then you have to run it like this:

cd 0.43
./autogen.sh && ./configure && make
cd src
./pd

That's a good idea.  I was just working on getting pd-gui-rewrite branch
to build with 'debbuild'.  Once I get that, I'll try submitting it to
launchpad.
