actually, we have an implementation for this, though it's not called osc~.

anyhow, if you feel that's the appropriate name for it, i'd say: go
aheead. publish it, commit it; nobody should be forced to use your
object though. but this does not mean that you are forced to not write
(or name) it.

apart from that, gf's [print] is not about controlling a printer, but
about printing messages to the console. this is what Pd's [print] is
about as well.
