Try disis_wiimote (http://l2ork.music.vt.edu/main/?page_id=56). We use it as the core controller inside L2Ork with over dozen machines in the same room and it has been rock solid for over 2 years. It is multithreaded so sending rumble/led messages back to Wiimote does not block Pd. It is also driven by metro so you can decide the granularity of updates. Supports MotionPlus, etc. Wii Fit support can be added I just didn't bother with it yet but it shouldn't be too hard...
