the [switch~] doesn't really make sense here: you are only turning off
the calculation within the subpatch, which contains only a [*~] anyhow
(so the effect of turning that on is quite minimal).

it might make a difference if you are using *many many* instances of
your [gate~], but in practice i doubt it.
