[PD] Pd Extended OSX App Bundle Makefile

Hi List,Can anybody point me to documentation that explains how to build Gem for the Pd-extended OSX app bundle?
I see pd/packages/darwin_app/Makefile with `make install` and `make package`.  These don't actually build Gem when 
I run them, but Gem is included in the Pd-extended app bundle so there must a step I'm missing somewhere.
