Hi,
<p>as I once ran into a similar (audio) problem under WinNT, here a seggestion
what might cause the trouble:
<p>Windows uses one wavedevice as standard output. That means that the
driver / device gets opend by the system and when pd tries to open it,
we get an errormessage (I got something like: 'Device in use by another
application'), because it is allready in use by Win. Someone told me to
switch off the system sounds, but it did not work with NT. Another solution
could be to set the 'preferred device' (controll pannel -> multimedia ->
audio) for both audio in and out to 'none'. This - sort of - disables the
systems sound section. (in german Win: 'Bevorzugtes Gerät' = '[Kein]')
Be shure to check the 'Only use preferred devices'-option in the same window...
<br>Or: If windows uses the soundmanager as standard device, you could
try 'pd -soundoutdev 0 -soundindev 0'. Device -1 is the soundmanager (default),
device 0 is the first soundcard.
<p>Hope that works... sorry, no ideas about the MIDI problem...

I'm running W98 . I have my Midi input and output drivers configured as
