here, your configuration file causes pd to hang,<br>
well it seems to refuse to stream this,<br>
but this depends on the ffmpeg version,<br>
i use ffmpeg-cvs-2003-04-03.<br>
<br>
it's also the case with the standalone ffmpeg.<br>

using an mpeg1video container [ old skool ]...

no I mean codec "mpeg4", no matter which container .
for instance trying to feed this, results in a segementation fault.
but is working ok with standalone ffmeg and als working fine with codec "mspeg4"
