It's not directly a data store, because any kinds of things lie between

I also wanted to recommend a good short story by Jorge Luis Borges.
It's an absurd dystopia about information theory, permutations,
catalogues, metacatalogues, lies, noise, typos, randomness, and
meaning. Well, that's what I remember reading into it.
