Yes, the Abelton guys are pretty savvy to the academic computer music scene.<br><br>Operator is a really nicely designed software synth that mainly does FM, but also has filters and oscillators good for subtractive synthesis. The key feature of it for me are the envelope generators, which have all sorts of interesting looping modes that can create all sorts of textures. It was designed by Robert Henke of Monolake fame.<br>

literature, DAFx proceedings etc. for effect inspiration in a similar<br>
