Carnegie Mellon hosts NIME 2009<br>

Carnegie Mellon University will host the New Interfaces for Musical Expression<br>
(NIME) Conference June 4 - 6, 2009. NIME 2009 will feature a variety of<br>
workshops, papers, posters, demonstrations, and performances. These<br>
presentations will be given by researchers and musicians from all over the<br>
world, who will gather in Pittsburgh to share their knowledge and late-breaking<br>
work on new musical interface design.<br>
<br>
NIME 2009 will include a special focus on Tradition and Innovation. Events<br>
related to this theme include a keynote speech by acclaimed electronic media<br>
artist Paul DeMarinis, and an international teleconference with computer music<br>
pioneers William Buxton, John Chowning, Roger Linn, and Max Mathews.<br>
<br>
There is still time to register for the conference at the early registration<br>
rate of $300 or the early student registration rate of $150 by May 1. After May<br>
1, regular registration wil cost $400 and regular student registration will be<br>
$200.<br>

In addition to the conference, Carnegie Mellon also is hosting day-long<br>
workshops, all of which take place on campus June 3.<br>
