main machine. (A Netbook is not to be a main machine imho)<br>

OS is EeeBuntu (i'm afraid i will be discontinued) with Array.org kernel<br>
which runs really FAST on this slow box.<br>

I've recently bought an inexpensive Burr-Brown USB-SPdif interface (output<br>
only) for the netbook which runs out-of-the-box with linux and sounds very<br>
nice. And it's very small.<br>
(NB newer netbooks have SPdif out built in.)<br>

I'm not sure what you're looking for - the example in the video _seems_<br>
like there is something truly analog to it (such as feeding the analog<br>
audio signal into the TV)...<br>

However you should be able to simulate somewhat similar results in Gem<br>
with pix_sig2pix~ and some relative simple waves (sinusoids, square<br>
waves, sawtooths...) added together........<br>

i can _not_ reproduce that with *any* patch here.<br>
the sound is gone after unplugging headphones, but disabling it an re-enabeling it in the Pd window makes the Sound come back on the internal speakers. Not the desired way but no crash or freeze either.<br>

this is done by having two copies of the same pix and applying a very subtle but very fast 3d transformation [rotateXYZ] ?to one of them, for this task, I use the audio input..<br>

Just wanted to say that my externs have some features based on<br>
perceptually determined pitch scales, but _none_ based on loudness<br>
research. I'll probably be adding something over the summer, but I'm<br>
not sure how general the design will be yet (I might implement it as<br>
optional functionality within the existing feature externs).<br>

So - a separate extern that reports a loudness value taking pitch or<br>
spectral centroid into account would be really great. Alex, if you do<br>
work on this before I get a chance to, it would be something I'd use<br>
as another dimension in my timbre-space examples. For instance, I<br>
didn't try to write another pitch or RMS amplitude object, because<br>
sigmund~ already gives me both of these in real-time and NRT.<br>
