</div>Gem won't (shan't) touch any settings of the device if it can help it.<br>
so setting the framerate before you start Gem should get you somewhere.<br>

furthermore, it should be possible to change some properties of the<br>
camera even while Gem is capturing.<br>

in the case of guvcview this might not work due to guvcview (which<br>
tries to also _capture_ images and fails doing so), but tools that<br>
only set properties should work ok.<br>
i'd recomment something simple like v4l2-ctl (on debian this is<br>
available in the v4l-utils package)<br>
