<html><head></head><body><div style="font-family: Verdana;font-size: 12.0px;"><div>hello ian<br/></div><div>we worked with multiple cameras until now, which actually made some headaches for us as well.<br/></div><div>the problems when using multiple (usb-)cameras are not just a few.<br/></div><div>thats why we thought we experiment with solutions, that are just using one camera plus a lens- or mirror-system<br/></div><div>and that is what we will actually do within the workshop with the participants. <br/></div><div>building a one-camera 360-degree solution for a very low budget.<br/></div><div>this solution will also be much more suited for portable recording actions.</div><div>since we try our best to document the whole workshop, it will be easy for you to build one for yourself as well :)<br/></div><div>also: the upcoming features will make working with the toolkit more comfortable as well.<br/></div><div>cheers, peter<br/>

This looks very interesting Peter, I wish I could come to the workshop. I just tried the playback examples and they look pretty easy to follow, which is great for me. I'm particularly interested in a panarama capture device. I wonder what some specs would be for a portable device? Reading your write up, seems like a desktop pc running ubuntu, 5 ps3eye arranged in a circle on 5 usb buses (?) ...would you need multiple PCI usb expansion cards to get 30fps? Would you need a graphics card for capturing or a GUI? Or could you use a headless computer and maybe a joystick as a gui?<br/>

Furtheron they will learn how to deal with the created content using the Extended View Toolkit (EVT). Participants will be presented an brief introduction to the concepts of panoramic cameras and the problems that lie in those concepts. </div>

<div style="font-family: Verdana;">With the Extended View Toolkit, the participants will have hands on experience on the creation of projection environments. Within this part, solutions and challenges for video- mapping will be discussed and demonstrated. The demonstration of video mapping should then lead to a further hands on experience, when the participants of the workshop will have the opportunity to experiment with projections on different geometric shapes in small groups.</div>
