I recommend for your case to use Pd-extended. Pduino-0.5.zip is from that time. <br>
Also I recommend to use the Zip version of Pd-extended as this one does not need to be installed and you already have a newer Pd. You can also get all the [externals] needed with the newer Pd but to simplify your “undergrad project.” go to:<br>

You should be able to open “arduino.pd” from Hans “Pduino-0.5” folder.<br>
You will not get “... couldn't create” messages.<br>
<br>
I’ve never used [arduino] so the rest I don’t know.<br>
