FWIW cwiid lives on as a fork within pd-l2ork and has been
further developed there. We have a disis_wiimote external that has
been tested with up to 18 wiimotes in a single 900 sq.ft. room
without hiccups. It also supports things that were not supported
in the original cwiid library, such as the pass-through mode that
allows for the use of both plus and nunchuk, as well as support
for the wiimote plus (the controller with integrated plus). I must
admit I am unaware what is the current support of those features
through the hid object.
i haven't used the wiimote in ages, but:
IIRC, the entire cwiid approach (on which pd-wiimote is based) has been
deprecated about 10 years ago (or maybe 5), in favour of a hid-module
(the drivers come with the linux kernel).
so most likely, you ought to try your luck with [hid] first.
if you have any success (or none), please report it on the list.
