You can set the blending functions now:
can be 0 ... GL_ONE_MINUS_SRC_ALPHA
       1 ... GL_ONE
try to change that.

Then I have added depth buffer independed rendering for alpha enabled
objects, which is turned on by default. (turn it of with the auto 0
message).
Let me know if it works, and more importantly if it doesn't.

Or send your patch and pictures you are using.
