well yes, the thing is, that [pix_texture] prefers to use
rectangle-texturing, even if the textures are normalized (this is 2^n)
so if your card supports it and you don't object (by sending a [mode 0()
you will always go into rectangle-texture-mode.
i think this is fine on osX (good job jamie/chris) but not that
foolproof on linux (who did that?)
