the directory is not empty, but the index.html is 0-sized.
i think the problem occured after a security related upgrade of the 
mailman software.

and you can access separate months via 
http://lists.puredata.info/pipermail/gem-dev/2005-12/ and similar

i think i have fixed the problem causing issue, but it might take some 
time till it propagates to the actual websites.
