[GEM-dev] ./configure doesn't detect avformat.h

On a plain Debian/etch/x86 box, I ran this command:

./configure --with-pd=/home/pd/auto-build/pd-extended/pd && make

And it died looking for avformat.h, which was not install.  Perhaps ./ 
configure should look for that file too.  I am installing  
libavformat.h and carrying on.
