thanks, I am not sure if I understand this.
where exactly do I have to put the pix_image?
I tried
[gemhead]
  |
[shader..]
  |
[pix_image] [from_another_framebuffer]
  |          /
[pix_texture]

but that way, the pix_texture is always using the dummy image and not 
the framebuffer.
