I'll give it a try when I have time.

FYI last time I looked there were no proprietary linux ppc drivers, so
DRI was the only way to fly. I guess that's what I get for having apple HW.

Fair enough, I should also give the ol v4l2 input a try again to see if
that is now working on my cx88 cards...
