with "border 0, create, 1"--[gemwin] I cannot focus the GEM window, so cannot use gemkeyname (nor in fact move the window using the window manager, etc...)
this is with xfce4/xfwm4 and gem 0.91.1
some googling tells me that GEM should use some other method for disabling borders than what it does:
