Initial Comment:
when sending a "create" message to [gemwin], the window appears but gets closed immediately.

this is on Pd-extended-0.41-4 (that comes with Gem 0.91.3 'tigital') on an ubuntu 8.04 system.

gfx card "ATI Technologies Inc RV350 [Mobility Radeon 9600 M10]"

glxgears works fine.

i set "GEM_SINGLE_CONTEXT=1"
else it crashes...

but still no permanent window
