there should, however, be a link to the binary in your src/ folder

since the image loading code is now a plugin as well, you might have to
put gem_imageQT.so (as found in plugins/imageQT/.libs) besides your
Gem.pd_darwin.

simplest should be to make sure there are links to both Gem.pd_darwin
and gem_imageQT.so in your src/ directory.
