Message:
actually printout does work, but you have to manually raise the verbosity
of Pd to level 2, by adding the following flags when starting Pd: "-verbose
-verbose"

Message:
the codeclist is sent to the last outlet of [pix_record], just attach a
[print] to it. this allows the codecname not only to be displayed, but
also to be used programmatically.

in theory, the codeclist should also be posted at a higher verbose level
(so you won't get annoyed by all those codecs by default), but it seems
that this is currently not working as expected.
i'll try to fix that later.
