I am just finished programming Yoyo, one of the many machines of
http://AmorphicRobotWorks.org/ . Yoyo listens to rhythms created by
gallery goers and improvises upon them using his three fingers on a
drum, a bass kick, and a bow on a long berimbau-like string. Yoyo is
at the Art Interactive gallery in Cambridge, Massachussets until
October 6th, as part of the "Engaging Characters" show:

http://artinteractive.org/

Yoyo is controlled by a Pd patch running on a Debian GNU/Linux PC.
MIDI signals are sent to one of Eric Singer's MIDI relay boards, which
control a set of Opto-22 relays, which control motors and pneumatic
pistons. All of the software will be released under the GNU GPL. An
ogg stream is planned.
