    make it possible to compile m_sched.c without pthreads by defining THREAD_LOCKING=0 as a cmpile flag. This permits compiling Pd in systems with no pthreads support (one also has to omit d_soundfile.c and supply a dunny d_soundfile_setup() function to get this to work without changing m_conf.c).
