    disabled... added a line to "enable" it.

    check for NULL-functionpointers into jack-framework on all platforms
    
    sometimes, jack is also weakly linked on linux (and protecting the
    check with __APPLE__ leads to crashes in such situations)
    
    in any case, we want to be sure that jack_client_open is non-NULL, in *all* cases...

    use sane defaults for font-metrics
    
    in case the GUI is unable to come up with the proper font-metrics
    (e.g. because Tk was compiled without Xft support...)
